From September 1, 2025, a new subject - 'Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy' - will be introduced in Ukrainian schools. This subject will be mandatory for 8th graders, and for the next academic year it will also be available for 9th graders. This was reported on the website of the New Ukrainian School.
The goal of the new course will be to develop financial skills and entrepreneurial thinking among students. The National Bank of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Education and Science has developed a textbook and curriculum for this discipline.
'The program of the new subject is developed taking into account the age characteristics of students and includes a wide range of topics from the financial sphere.'
As part of the course, students will deepen their knowledge about forming a financial culture, managing personal finances, banking services, and taxes. The basics of entrepreneurship and project implementation will also be covered.
Teaching the new subject
Teachers of any profile will be able to teach 'Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy' after special training. This will allow teachers of different subjects to master the methodology of teaching the new course.
The introduction of this subject is part of a large-scale educational reform aimed at preparing students for the challenges of modern life and developing the practical skills necessary for successful self-realization in the future.
The textbook on 'Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy' will help students understand the basics of finance and entrepreneurship, acquire the necessary skills for managing finances and implementing their own projects. Learning this subject can be an important step in preparing a new generation of citizens who will be able to function successfully in the modern world.
