Starlink Issues in Iran
Starlink in Iran has ceased its operations due to China’s involvement, resulting in up to 80% of terminals in the country malfunctioning. Russia provided equipment to jam the Starlink system, while China published instructions that also contributed to this process. As a result, Iran has become a testing ground where 40,000 terminals have been paralyzed.
Two months ago, Chinese researchers announced the discovery of 935 coherent ground obstacles in the Ku-band, which was an important step in blocking Starlink signals. These actions indicate increasing activity in the field of communication control technologies in the region.
Impact on Users
It has been noted that as a result of these measures, a significant portion of Starlink terminals in Iran found themselves non-functional, creating serious difficulties for users and limiting access to the internet. As reported by Pouria Zaraati, the situation is a consequence of complex actions by international players in the technological field.
This event highlights the growing competition among countries in the field of technology and communication control. The jamming of the Starlink system in Iran may indicate the strategic interests of China and Russia in controlling the information space, which could have long-term consequences for users in the region. Furthermore, the situation may affect the future development of satellite communication technologies and their availability in countries with high levels of state control.
