New Season of Ukraine’s 3x3 Basketball Championship Set to Tip Off

Ukrainian 3x3 Basketball Championship Begins New Season

The upcoming season of Ukraine’s 3x3 basketball championship will launch on June 13-14. The opening round is scheduled to take place in Kyiv at the VDNH exhibition grounds. This year, the competition will feature adult men’s teams, along with junior boys and girls (U-18) and cadets (U-16). As of June 9, 66 teams have registered for the first stage, broken down as follows:

  • 17 teams in the men’s category;
  • 17 in the junior (U-18) division;
  • 19 in the cadet (U-16) division.

A total of seven stages are planned for the 2026 summer season of the Ukrainian 3x3 basketball championship. Following the opener in Kyiv, the competition will move to Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Lutsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The top two teams from each stage will advance to the final round, which is set for August 29-30 in Kyiv. Live broadcasts of the matches will be available on the official website and YouTube channel of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine.

National Team Action and World Cup Qualifying

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian men’s national basketball team is currently competing in the qualification rounds for the 2027 FIBA World Cup. In the fourth round, the team suffered a 78:64 loss to Spain. Earlier, in the third round, Spain again defeated Ukraine, this time with a score of 86:66. However, in the second round, the Ukrainian national team secured a victory over Denmark, winning 88:71. In their debut qualifying match against Georgia, the team also celebrated success, earning a 92:79 win.

The top scorer in the match against Georgia was Oleksandr Kovliar, who recorded 31 points in 37 minutes, while Oleksandr Lypovyi added 13 points. Viacheslav Bobrov also made an impact, posting a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

This season of the Ukrainian 3x3 basketball championship promises to be packed with action and excitement, while the national team’s World Cup qualifying campaign adds an extra layer of intrigue.
