Stefan Bandera 117 Years: Unknown Facts About the Leader of the OUN
On January 1, 2023, it has been 117 years since the birth of Stepan Andriyovych Bandera, a Ukrainian nationalist. He was born in the village of Staryi Uhryniv, which is now located in the Kalush district of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Bandera, known by the aliases Baba, Staryi, Byelykho, and Vlast, became one of the key figures in the history of the Ukrainian national movement.
Activities of Stepan Bandera
In 1922, Bandera joined 'Plast', and from 1928, he became a member of the Ukrainian Military Organization (UVO). In 1929, he joined the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). From 1931, he held the position of a member of the OUN's Regional Executive in Western Ukrainian lands, and from June 1932, he became the deputy regional leader and propaganda secretary. Since June 1933, Bandera led the OUN in the Western Ukrainian lands.
Stepan Bandera died on October 15, 1959, in Munich, Germany.
