Bad weather in Odesa took the lives of an entire family
In Odesa, on Serhii Eisenstein Lane, the bodies of five individuals were discovered due to the bad weather, including an eight-year-old girl. The Odesa Regional State Administration reported that a water pumping operation is ongoing, so there is still no access to the bodies.
DSNS spokesperson Marina Avena confirmed that a family living in a basement apartment perished. The wave swept the people away, and they did not have time to escape. The identities of the deceased have not yet been established.
Elimination of the consequences of the incident
Over the course of a day, Odesa and neighboring areas were hit by severe flooding disaster. Rescuers report nine fatalities, including a child. The city received nearly one and a half times the monthly norm of precipitation within a day.
On the eve, during the night, services worked on the evacuation of residents trapped by water, pulling out stranded vehicles and pumping water from premises. The body of the eight-year-old girl was discovered in the morning, around seven o'clock.
