The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump supports Ukraine in its fight for peace, claims Deputy Press Secretary of the U.S. Department of State Minyon Houston.
Houston noted that the Trump administration is striving for a long-term, durable peace in the region and supports Ukraine's calls for a ceasefire.
'We want to continue standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine as it calls for a comprehensive, full ceasefire that will stop any attacks on civilians, on critical infrastructure,' Houston is quoted as saying.
The U.S. President reacted to Russia's threats after the ultimatum deadline was shortened and announced the placement of nuclear submarines in relevant regions. He also expressed doubt about Russia's plans to capture Ukraine.
The U.S. presidential administration confirmed its support for Ukraine's efforts to secure lasting peace and openly stated its opposition to any threats to Ukraine from Russia. Such confident steps from the American side are very important in the context of the complex situation in Eastern Ukraine and contribute to strengthening the partnership between the U.S. and Ukraine.
