Roundtable Held in Storozhynets

A roundtable discussion focusing on women's safety in the community was recently convened in the city of Storozhynets. The event was organized with the support of the Ukrainian Women's Fund as part of the 'Women's Safety Circle: Knowledge. Support. Action' project. Participants examined critical aspects of responding to violence and improving inter-agency cooperation in this field.

Participants and Key Topics

Those involved in the discussion included representatives from law enforcement, local government, medical and social services, civil society organizations, the 'Bukovyna-1325' coalition, and the Chernivtsi Regional Migration Service. The conversation centered on establishing proper protocols for responding to cases of domestic and gender-based violence, as well as defining action plans for services during crisis situations.

Further dialogue addressed the types of medical, social, legal, and administrative aid available to survivors. This roundtable marks a significant step toward fostering a safer environment for women in Storozhynets and enhancing the coordinated efforts of different agencies in combating violence. Such community-level initiatives are crucial for implementing national policies against gender-based violence in Ukraine.

This event underscores the ongoing urgency of violence against women and the necessity of a comprehensive, multi-institutional approach to address it. The discussions from this roundtable could lay the groundwork for future actions aimed at improving women's security in the region and developing robust support programs for survivors.

It is vital that the outcomes of this meeting are integrated into the practical work of local authorities and service providers.
