A shooting occurred on March 14, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m. in a Walgreens pharmacy parking lot located about a mile from the TPC Sawgrass golf course in Florida. Suspect's Actions and Arrest
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Christian Joseph Barrios, fled the scene and entered the grounds of the TPC Sawgrass club. There, he picked up a PGA Tour radio before discarding it. Barrios then stole a black BMW vehicle. He was apprehended by authorities in Nassau County around 8:00 a.m. the following Saturday. Sheriff Hardwick noted that Barrios has a significant criminal history, with more than 27 prior arrests.
The opening of spectator gates, originally scheduled for 7:30 a.m., was postponed until 9:00 a.m. The first group of golfers teed off on schedule at 8:15 a.m., while the tournament's hospitality areas and services commenced operations at 11:00 a.m. On the course, Swedish golfer Ludvig Åberg led the field with a score of -12.
