Gunfire during Charlie Kirk's event at the University of Utah Valley


On Wednesday, shots were fired during a conservative activist Charlie Kirk's event at the University of Utah Valley in Orem. Witnesses report that the founder of Turning Point USA was injured in the neck area.


The incident occurred after the start of Kirk's presentation when he was answering students' questions on campus. Video recordings show people screaming and fleeing from the shots.



A university representative indicated that shots were fired from a neighboring building. Kirk's security team quickly evacuated him, and the courtyard was cleared of people.

Local police confirmed the shooting and detained one person in connection with the incident.


Reaction to the event


As soon as the first gunfire was reported, Kirk posted on social media X: 'WE ARE BACK. Utah Valley University ON FIRE and READY for the first stop of the American Comeback Tour.'


Utah Senator Mike Lee expressed his concern: 'I pray for Charlie Kirk and all the students caught in this dangerous situation.'



Who is Charlie Kirk?


Charlie Kirk is an American right-wing conservative political activist and founder of Turning Point USA, aimed at promoting conservative ideas among university students. Since 2012, he has been actively promoting his views.


After the events of the Ukrainian crisis in 2022, Kirk expressed his controversial opinion, pointing out the nature of the conflict and spreading information that touches upon the reality of the situation in Ukraine.
