Ruling by the High Anti-Corruption Court
Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court has granted a lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice, ordering the confiscation of assets belonging to former parliament member Oleh Tsaryov. The court ruled to transfer the following property to state ownership:
- a trailer
- 21 land plots
- buildings and structures
- corporate rights located in the Dnipropetrovsk region
This decision was made possible through the application of sanctions under Article 4, Part 1, Clause 1-1 of Ukraine’s Law on Sanctions.
About Oleh Tsaryov and His Activities
Oleh Tsaryov serves as a speaker for the so-called parliament of the DPR and LPR. He is also a former Ukrainian lawmaker, ex-presidential candidate, and a pro-Russian politician. In absentia, the court found him guilty of financing armed aggression by the Russian Federation, which led to the seizure of his assets valued at a total of 460 million Ukrainian hryvnias (approximately $12.5 million).
The ruling will take effect after the appeal window closes, provided no appeal is filed. In February 2024, the court also ordered the seizure of Tsaryov’s apartment in central Dnipro, a land plot in the Kyiv region, and two property complexes in temporarily occupied Crimea. This asset confiscation is part of broader Ukrainian efforts to combat corruption and terrorism financing.
This case highlights the intensified actions of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in fighting corruption and bolstering national security. Seizing assets linked to individuals who support Russia’s aggressive policies represents a critical step in strengthening the legal system and ensuring justice amid modern challenges.
