The trial of Ryan Rout, who is accused of attempted murder of US President Donald Trump last September, has begun in Florida. The 59-year-old defendant has decided to represent himself, according to 'Hlavkom' citing the BBC.



Rout is charged with the attempted murder of one of the main presidential candidates at the time, assaulting a federal officer, and two crimes related to firearms. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.


In particular, Rout filed a motion in court requesting to summon Trump for a duel or a round of golf. He also asked to call the American leader as a witness, referring to the US President in court documents as an 'insecure idiot – a crazy fool'.


It is worth recalling that in September 2024, a shooting occurred in Florida near the golf club where Trump was present. The suspect in the attempted murder of Trump has been identified as Ryan Wesley Rout. He was armed with an assault rifle and was near the Florida golf club while Trump was playing golf.


Subsequently, Ryan Rout, suspected of attempting to kill Donald Trump on the golf course in Florida, left a note indicating that he intended to kill the former President of the United States.
