Preventive measure for Nazarii Hysak
The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for Nazarii Hysak, who is suspected of embezzling charitable funds raised for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The court imposed night house arrest on Nazarii Hysak from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
The prosecutor in the case insisted on round-the-clock house arrest, arguing this was due to the risk of the suspect fleeing abroad because of his disability, as well as the possibility of destroying evidence. However, the defense insisted on limiting it to night arrest, pointing out that Hysak requires twice-daily lung ventilation and must regularly be outdoors. The prosecutor, acknowledging the importance of medical needs, noted that these were not taken into account in the petition for round-the-clock detention. The court partially granted the prosecution's request, establishing house arrest during the night hours.
Medical Needs and Charity
According to the court's decision, Nazarii Hysak may leave his residence only for medical assistance. He is also required to surrender his foreign passport. It is worth noting that the Lviv City Council allocated UAH 3.5 million for 14 vials of the drug Risdiplam, and Roche Ukraine provided another 14 vials for free. This amount of medication should be sufficient for nine months of treatment, which will last from June 2024 to March 2025. The fundraising for treatment, according to information from Hysak's Telegram channel, has not stopped.
Recall that Nazarii Hysak returned to Ukraine after treatment in Italy. On March 25, he was handed a notice of a change in suspicion.
