In Paris, the court decided to keep Russian basketball player Daniil Kasatkin in custody. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.

Charges and response

«The prosecutor in the US claims that the athlete is guilty without providing any factual evidence. The principle of presumption of innocence has been violated in this case», – quotes the Russian's lawyer Frédéric Belo.

It is reported that the next hearing in Kasatkin's case is scheduled for October 29, at which a final decision will be made.

Detention and charges

Following a US request, Russian basketball player Daniil Kasatkin was detained in France. According to suspicions, the athlete was involved in a hacker group that demanded money.

According to the investigation, Kasatkin participated in negotiations regarding ransom payments on behalf of the hacker group, which caused damages to about 900 companies from 2020 to 2022.

Response to the charges

«He didn't touch anything on the computer: he was either hacked, or a hacker sold him a computer to act under the cover of another person», – said Kasatkin's lawyer.

Despite the charges, the basketball player himself denies any wrongdoing. Daniil Kasatkin left the 'MBA-MAI' club, where he played for four years and became a two-time bronze medalist of the Russian Cup.
