Ukrainian Courts and Their Decisions Regarding Business
Ukrainian courts have made 639 decisions in favor of Ukrainian businesses regarding the recovery of damages from the Russian Federation since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Of these, 85% of the claims were fully satisfied. The total amount of decisions made indicates active legal protection activities during wartime.
Statistics of Decisions and Regional Results
In particular, 311 decisions were made in frontline regions for a total amount of over 386 billion UAH. The largest claim amounting to 287.89 billion UAH was made in favor of the agricultural company 'Magnat'. Chernihiv region topped the ranking of regions for the total amount of satisfied claims, which amounts to 344.7 billion UAH, while in Zaporizhzhia region, the amount of satisfied claims reaches 22.9 billion UAH, and in Donetsk region - 6.36 billion UAH.
In 2022, only 5 decisions were made for a total amount of 260 million UAH. However, in 2023, the amount of recoveries increased to nearly 77 billion UAH, and in 2024, over 297 billion UAH have already been awarded. The most cases were considered in:
- Donetsk region (74 decisions)
- Zaporizhzhia (67)
- Dnipro (54) regions.
Additionally, the government adopted Resolution No. 1541 on direct compensation for businesses from areas of increased risk for up to 10 million UAH. 79 court decisions totaling over 241 million UAH fall under the criteria for state compensation. The most decisions were recorded in Dnipropetrovsk region, where 30 cases were considered for a total amount of 97.2 million UAH.
These decisions demonstrate the efforts of Ukrainian courts in protecting the rights of businesses during wartime, which may positively impact the recovery of the country's economy. Successful recovery of damages from the Russian Federation could become an important element in compensating for losses caused by aggression and stimulate investment in the Ukrainian economy.
