Ukrainian Court Sentences Man for Stealing 'Boy Pedestrian' Statue

A local resident has been found guilty by the Zhashkiv District Court for stealing the decorative 'Boy Pedestrian' statue, which had been placed near Zhashkiv Lyceum No. 3. The theft occurred in March 2024 at around 11:40 PM. The stolen item was valued at 4,140 Ukrainian hryvnias.

The defendant entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor. The court convicted him under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which addresses theft. Citing Article 75 of the same code, the judge released the convict on probation, imposing a 5-year prison sentence with a 1-year probation period. The verdict has not yet taken legal effect and can be appealed.
