The Brazilian court decided to place Bolsonaro under house arrest
The Supreme Court of Brazil has decided to apply house arrest to former President Jair Bolsonaro due to accusations of preparing a state coup. The judge claims that Bolsonaro used the social media of his supporters to call for attacks on the Supreme Court and foreign interference in the country's justice.
At the same time, the court has banned Bolsonaro from receiving visitors, using a mobile phone and social media. This adds to the already existing restrictions, such as wearing an electronic bracelet and curfews.
“This blatant violation of established restrictions was so obvious that, we repeat, the defendant's own son, Senator Flavio Nantos Bolsonaro, decided to delete the post from his Instagram page to hide the violation of the law,” the judge noted.
Let us remind you that Jair Bolsonaro is accused of attempting to organize a state coup and plans to poison his political opponent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. After Lula's victory in the elections, Bolsonaro refused to recognize the results and provoked large-scale protests against him.
