Officials Once Again Give Dynamo a Hand
On Sunday, August 9, 2026, Radio Track published a report on the match between Dynamo and Veres, which ended 2-1 in favor of the Kyiv side. Dynamo snatched the win in the closing minutes thanks to a penalty converted by Ponomarenko. In his article, football columnist Vasyl Samokhvalov drew attention to what he described as possible officiating assistance for Dynamo, specifically involving player Bilovar.
Expert Comments
Samokhvalov called Bilovar "a unique footballer in our championship who is never shown red cards." He also said Dynamo "could have been left a man down at the start of the match," but "Bilovar's magic worked." The columnist added that "this phenomenon genuinely works only in the domestic league; at the international level, all the magic disappears somewhere."
The match itself was a tense contest in which Dynamo, determined to fight for fourth place, went toe-to-toe with Veres. The article also mentioned Veres newcomer Blair, who arrived free from the Australian league. Samokhvalov noted that Blair "dragged the Kyiv defense around all match however he wanted." The report further discussed a French player who was introduced as a PSG signing but, in Samokhvalov's words, "was like McCoffey – he dissolved."
As a result, the Dynamo–Veres match became the subject of debate because of controversial moments and refereeing decisions that drew mixed reactions from fans and experts.
Officiating disputes have long been a familiar part of Ukrainian football, and this match only reinforced the ongoing concerns. Questions about referee objectivity and its impact on results remain pressing, especially as competition grows and clubs vie for European spots where every point can be decisive.
