Criticism of the Mayor of Kyiv

Olena Shulyak, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Power and Local Self-Government, criticized Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko. She reacted to his calls for residents to leave the city due to potential heating problems, noting that she has no opportunity to leave the city.

Shulyak emphasized that she is also a Kyiv resident and lives on the 15th floor of an apartment building in the Obolon district. She believes such calls are inappropriate, as many residents, like herself, cannot leave the city. Additionally, Olena Shulyak pointed out that after four years of war, there is still no responsible person dealing with the protection of infrastructure facilities.

The Situation with Infrastructure

This situation arose against the backdrop of a massive combined strike by Russia on critical infrastructure facilities that occurred on the night of January 9. The issues of heating supply and infrastructure protection remain relevant for Kyiv residents, and the authorities' response to these challenges raises concerns among the capital's residents.

Olena Shulyak's statements reflect the concerns of Kyiv residents facing heating problems, especially in wartime conditions. The mayor's calls to leave the city may amplify the sense of hopelessness for those who cannot leave their homes. In the context of rising threats to infrastructure, the importance of effective communication and management by local authorities becomes even more critical for ensuring citizens' safety.
