Ukrainian Aonishiki wins the Emperor's Cup in Japan: a historic achievement in sumo

Ukrainian sumo wrestler Danilo Yavhusyshyn, known as Aonishiki Arata, won the Kyushu Basho in Fukuoka, Japan, becoming the first Ukrainian to win the Emperor's Cup in professional sumo. During the tournament, he achieved 12 victories out of 15 and reached the playoffs, where he defeated his opponent with an okurinage throw from Mongolia in the elite division of Makuuchi. This is a historic victory for the Ukrainian athlete, who achieved such a result in his 14th top-level tournament.
