Hazardous Munitions Disposal in Sumy Region

Engineers from Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) have successfully disposed of dangerous munitions discovered in the Sumy region. These operations were conducted last week across three districts: Sumy, Konotop, and Shostka. Demining efforts are ongoing throughout the region to ensure the safety of local residents. The Sumy region borders Russia and has been subject to shelling and missile attacks, making such clearance operations a critical, routine task.

Safety Guidelines for Reporting Suspicious Objects

In light of these hazardous discoveries, the SES reiterates vital safety protocols. If you encounter a suspicious object, do not approach or touch it; immediately move to a distance of at least 100 meters. Upon discovering such items, you must call the emergency numbers 101 or 102.

The disposal of these dangerous munitions in Sumy is a crucial step in safeguarding civilians. This work is particularly important in regions affected by the ongoing conflict, where unexploded ordnance poses a persistent threat. The continued demining operations demonstrate the commitment of authorities and emergency services to preventing accidents and restoring normal living conditions for the population.

It is essential for residents to adhere to SES guidelines to avoid dangerous situations and to report any potential threats promptly.
