Russian strike on Okhtyrka: how the city is recovering after the shelling

In the city of Okhtyrka in the Sumy region, emergency recovery efforts are underway following a nighttime Russian strike. Utility services, volunteer organizations, and concerned citizens have joined forces in these efforts.



Thanks to joint efforts, 117 damaged window openings were dismantled, and 168 windows were temporarily closed with OSB boards. The area was also cleared of construction debris, with 44 cubic meters of construction waste removed.


140 people sought assistance at the resilience point set up by rescuers.

14 individuals contacted the State Emergency Service psychologist for psychological support.

DSNS climbers worked around the clock to dismantle damaged structures, including large-sized slabs on the roof.



Following the Russian strike, work is ongoing in Okhtyrka to eliminate the consequences and restore damaged buildings. Residents have actively participated in the city’s recovery, while rescuers and volunteers provide necessary assistance to those affected by this disaster.
