Dayana Yastremska surprised at the start of Wimbledon 2025 by defeating the second seed Coco Gauff. The Ukrainian tennis player easily outplayed the American in two sets, achieving one of the most remarkable victories of her career.

In the first set, Yastremska broke serve in the sixth game and led 4:2. However, she was unable to maintain the advantage: in the ninth game, the Ukrainian missed a set point, allowing her opponent to come back. The set went to a tiebreak, where Dayana completely outplayed Gauff, allowing her to score only three points - 7:6(3).
In the second set, the Ukrainian immediately broke serve in the opening game and then confidently led the score to 5:1. The match ended with another game won by the Ukrainian on the American's serve - 6:1.
It is worth noting that Elina Svitolina also had a successful start at Wimbledon 2025, defeating Hungarian representative Anna Bondor in the first round in two sets. In the first set, Svitolina broke serve in the fourth game and had a chance to finish the set in the eighth, but the opponent saved three set points. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian served for the set in the next game - 6:3. In the second set, Svitolina completely controlled the game, giving away only one game to her opponent - 6:1.
