Priest on War: 12 Million Abortions Since Independence and Demographic Crisis

Ситуація з демографічним спадом: мільйони втрат внаслідок війни та невтішна статистика абортів

Demographic Crisis and Its Consequences

Priest Oleksiy Filiuk from Ternopil expressed the opinion that the war in Ukraine is a consequence of 12 million abortions that have taken place during the years of the country's independence. According to him, this statistic holds terrifying figures and indicates a serious demographic crisis in Ukraine. Filiuk noted that under war conditions, if 12 million aborted children could have defended their Motherland, they would, according to him,

"have overwhelmed the Mokshans with their hats"
.

The priest also received a draft notice after the funeral of a fallen hero, which underscores his involvement in the current events taking place in Ukraine. Oleksiy Filiuk, who is known as a priest-blogger, pointed out that there is currently an insufficient number of people in Ukraine ready for defense, as

"we have no one to fight, because few children are being born"
.

Ethical Challenges and Investigations

Furthermore, the clergyman has become a subject of an investigation by law enforcement, which uncovered his attempt to receive money for promising to arrange a deferment from mobilization for 10 thousand dollars. The investigation established that he offered to conduct a rite of ordination to a deacon in exchange for this service.

Oleksiy Filiuk emphasized that, as the apostle James says,

"What causes wars among you? Because of your hard-heartedness"
, pointing to the moral aspects that may have led to the current conflicts in Ukraine.

The priest's statements address not only demographic challenges but also ethical questions that arise before society during the war. The idea that abortions may be linked to military conflicts reflects an attempt to find the roots of modern problems in historical and moral aspects. The situation regarding the investigation into the attempt to obtain funds for a deferment from mobilization highlights the complex ethical dilemmas faced by citizens in wartime conditions, as well as the need for reforms in the defense and mobilization system.
