Up to €2,600 in Swiss Microgrants Now Available for Businesses in Four Ukrainian Regions

Підтримка українських підприємств: нові гранти до €2,600 для бізнесу в чотирьох областях України

Switzerland Offers Microgrants to Boost Small Enterprises in Ukraine

Small business owners and freelancers in four regions of Ukraine can apply for microgrants of up to €2,600 through Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, a Swiss organization. The application window remains open until June 12, 2026, inclusive. This initiative is part of Switzerland's broader effort to support economic resilience in conflict-affected areas.

The program targets Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Odesa, and Vinnytsia regions. The maximum payout of €2,600 roughly equals 139,100 Ukrainian hryvnias before taxes. After deducting 18% personal income tax and a 5% military levy, recipients receive a net amount of 107,107 hryvnias. Importantly, each individual can receive only one grant.

Eligible Expenses and Priority Groups

Approved uses for the funds include:

  • purchasing machinery or equipment,
  • paying for specialized setup or consulting services,
  • buying consumables (capped at 20% of the total grant amount).

Applicants must complete an online form and upload a full set of required documents.

Priority is given to the following groups:

  • internally displaced persons (IDPs),
  • IDPs who have returned home,
  • veterans,
  • people with disabilities or their caregivers,
  • family members of fallen soldiers,
  • single parents or parents with many children,
  • citizens aged 60 and older,
  • women and youth.

This initiative is designed to assist those most in need of financial support to grow their own businesses amid current challenges.

The introduction of this Swiss microgrant program marks a significant step toward bolstering economic stability in Ukraine, especially during wartime and crises. Supporting vulnerable populations helps create jobs and strengthen local economies, which is critical for the country's recovery. This program could also serve as a model for other international efforts aimed at aiding small businesses in post-conflict zones.

In addition to the microgrant initiative, Switzerland has also committed significant resources to support Ukraine's recovery efforts. Recently, a new competition aimed at fostering business development was announced, with a pledge of 50 million francs dedicated to various projects. This multifaceted approach highlights the importance of not only immediate financial aid but also long-term investment in sustainable economic growth.
