A Message from Ukraine’s Prime Minister
Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Yuliia Svyrydenko, has issued a statement honoring journalists on their professional day, highlighting their crucial mission of recording the truth about the war. She reported that since the start of the full-scale invasion, at least 130 journalists have been killed, and 28 of their colleagues remain unlawfully detained in Russian captivity.
“You document the truth, counter disinformation, and help the world see the reality of Russian aggression.”
Yuliia Svyrydenko
She also praised the bravery of journalists working alongside the military, capturing life on the front lines and documenting the enemy’s crimes, all while risking their own lives.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to all journalists who work daily for the truth, record history, and amplify Ukraine’s voice to the world. “Happy Journalists’ Day!” she added. During wartime, journalists carry out a special mission by delivering the truth to the global community.
The Critical Role of Journalists
This address by Yuliia Svyrydenko underscores the vital role journalists play in covering the war in Ukraine and their contribution to combating misinformation. In the midst of armed conflict, media workers frequently put their lives on the line to capture verified facts and share them with the international community.
The grim toll of journalist deaths and ongoing detentions serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by media professionals in conflict zones.
