The Verkhovna Rada dismissed Minister of Energy Hrynchuk: details of the decision

Парламент ухвалив рішення про звільнення міністра енергетики Гринчука: подробиці подій.

Resignation of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine

Amid the loud scandal and political turmoil of the Ukrainian government, Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk decided to resign. According to 'Glavkom', this decision was supported by 315 members of parliament during a session of the Verkhovna Rada.

Recently, deputies from the 'European Solidarity' party blocked the work of the Rada, demanding the resignation of not only the Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko but also the entire government. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko intervened in the situation, submitting a proposal for the dismissal of Halushchenko and Hrynchuk from their positions.

The situation with the Minister of Energy

The President of Ukraine previously emphasized that trust in the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Energy is in question due to the investigations by NABU and SAP regarding a corruption scheme in the energy sector.

The investigations by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office regarding a criminal organization that influenced the activities of state-owned enterprises in the energy sector became an argument in favor of the dismissal of the Minister of Energy.

Thus, the Verkhovna Rada agreed to the dismissal of Hrynchuk and Halushchenko, taking an important step in the fight against corruption in the country.
