Ukraine's top-ranked player Elina Svitolina continues her successful performance at the French Open. In the third round match, the Ukrainian defeated Germany's Tamara Korpatsch in two sets, making it to the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros for the fourth consecutive time.

In the 1/16 final, the seventh seed of the tournament left her opponent with no chances. Svitolina won the first set with a score of 6:2, breaking her opponent's serve twice. In the second set, the Ukrainian lost the first two games but then won five in a row, finishing the match with a score of 6:3.
Svitolina continues her winning streak on clay
The match against Korpatsch was the third victory for the Ukrainian tennis player at this Roland Garros. In the opening round, she defeated Hungary's Anna Bondar in three sets, and in the second round, she confidently defeated Spain's Caitlin Kevedo.
The victory over the German allowed Svitolina to continue her unbeaten streak on clay courts to nine matches. Before the tournament in Paris, the Ukrainian also became the champion of the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Rome.
Ukrainian will play in the fourth round of the tournament for the eighth time
For Svitolina, this is already her eighth appearance in the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros in her career. The last time the Ukrainian did not reach the fourth round of the French Grand Slam was before 2023.
In two of the previous three seasons, Elina reached the quarter-finals of the tournament in Paris. Only in 2024 did her performance end at the 1/8 final stage.
Svitolina's next opponent will be determined by the match between Switzerland's Belinda Bencic and America's Peyton Stearns.
Earlier, Svitolina assessed her chances for victory at Roland Garros 2026. According to the analytical portal Opta, her probability of victory in this tournament is 1.33%.
