Ukrainian biathlete Tetiana Tarasyuk won the silver medal in the 7.5 km sprint race among juniors at the first stage of the Junior IBU Cup for the 2025/26 season in Swiss Goms. This is the first medal for the Ukrainian biathlon team this season and the debut medal for Tarasyuk at the international level.
In the race, which included seven Ukrainian athletes, Tarasyuk showcased high speed and excellent competition, allowing her to finish second, even with one penalty lap. She shared second place with Frenchwoman Maela Correiya, finishing with the same time. She finished just 27.5 seconds behind the race winner, another representative of France, Lou-Anne Dupont Balle Baze.

Among other Ukrainians, Valeria Sheihas finished in eighth place and entered the top-10. Polina Putsko made it into the top twenty. In the top-25 were also Victoria Khvostenko (14th place) and Iryna Shevchenko (22nd or 21st place according to other data). Alina Khmil finished in 31st place, but Ksenia Prykhodko was unable to complete the race.

Also that day, two representatives of the Tarasyuk family competed: her brother Taras finished sixth in the junior sprint race, marking the first success for Ukraine, while older sister Iryna placed 70th in the short individual race at the IBU Cup.
Recently, the Biathlon World Cup started. The Ukrainian women's relay finished the race in 15th place, thanks to a good performance by Oleksandra Merkusheva in the final stage.
