Electricity Tariffs in Ukraine
The Ukrainian government has announced that the electricity tariff for households will remain unchanged until April 30, 2026. This price freeze, set at 4.32 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour, applies to all consumers and is part of a government effort to ease financial pressure on families, particularly during the heating season, as stated by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. This policy provides much-needed predictability for household budgets amid ongoing economic challenges.
Discounted Rates for Specific Consumer Categories
Owners of two-zone meters will benefit from a reduced night-time rate of 2.16 UAH/kWh, applicable from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., while the daytime rate for them stays at the standard 4.32 UAH/kWh. Households using electric heating are eligible for a preferential rate of 2.64 UAH/kWh for monthly consumption up to 2,000 kWh; any usage beyond this limit is billed at the base rate of 4.32 UAH/kWh.
For three-zone meters, different tariffs apply based on time of use:
- Peak hours (8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) – 6.48 UAH/kWh
- Semi-peak hours (7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) – 4.32 UAH/kWh
- Night tariff (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) – 1.73 UAH/kWh
These measures are designed to ensure price stability for the population over the coming years and to encourage more efficient energy consumption.
Fixing electricity tariffs is a significant step for economic stability in Ukraine, especially considering the difficulties linked to the ongoing energy crisis. The government aims to support citizens by reducing their financial burden, a priority during the demanding winter heating season. The discounted rates for specific consumer groups also incentivize more efficient electricity use and help lower household expenses.
