Treatment of the Injured in Lviv

Medical care continues in Lviv for those wounded in the terrorist attack that occurred on the night of February 22. Ten people injured by explosions near the 'Magnus' shopping center remain hospitalized, with three of them in critical condition. Nine victims received treatment at Saint Panteleimon Hospital, including three in the intensive care unit. One other injured person is being treated in the surgical department of Saint Luke's Hospital.

Investigation into the Terrorist Attack

The explosions resulted in the death of 23-year-old police officer Viktoriia Shpylka, with a total of 25 people injured. The majority of the victims were police officers and National Guard servicemen. This attack highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by Ukraine, even in cities relatively distant from the front lines. Law enforcement has already released surveillance footage that may aid the investigation.

  • A court has ordered a 33-year-old woman from Kostopil in the Rivne region, suspected of carrying out the attack, to be held in custody for 60 days without the right to post bail.
  • During a hearing at the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv, the suspect stated that she 'did not know the contents of the package she left in a garbage container on Danylyshyna Street.'

The attack in Lviv has dealt a severe blow not only to the local community but also to law enforcement agencies, as most of the casualties were from their ranks. Authorities view this as a challenge to regional security. The ongoing investigation aims not only to punish the guilty but also to prevent similar incidents in the future. The situation remains under control, and city residents hope for a swift return to normal life.
