Explosion and Aftermath in Mykolaiv
A bomb detonated on the grounds of a non-operational gas station in Mykolaiv, an attack authorities have classified as a terrorist act. The incident occurred around 6:10 PM as patrol officers were arriving for a shift change. The explosion wounded seven police officers, two of whom are now in serious condition. This attack underscores the persistent threat of violence faced by Ukrainian security forces amid the ongoing conflict.
The explosion, caused by a detonated explosive device, also damaged several official police vehicles. Investigative and operational teams, bomb disposal experts, and other specialized services are currently working at the scene. All injured personnel are receiving medical assistance.
Criminal Investigation and a Second Incident
In response, the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the terrorist act. In a separate incident, an explosion occurred at approximately 8:30 PM on February 23rd in a police administrative building in the Amur-Nyzhnodniprovskyi district of Dnipro. While no one was injured in that blast, the shockwave damaged windows, furniture, computer equipment, and a nearby parked car.
This incident highlights the escalating security situation in Ukraine, particularly in the context of terrorist threats.
