In Ternopil, preparations are underway for the next review of public transport fares. Transporters have submitted calculations suggesting the cost of a single trip could rise to 26–32 UAH; however, the city council is currently considering a compromise option with lower fares. This is reported by the Ternopil City Council.

What fares are being discussed in Ternopil

According to the city council, transporters have proposed fares ranging from 26 to 32 UAH per trip. Meanwhile, Ternopil is currently considering the following constant fare option:

  1. 20 UAH — when paying with a 'Ternopilian Card';

  2. 22 UAH — with a transport card;

  3. 25 UAH — with a bank card.

Currently, lower prices are in effect in the city:

  1. 15 UAH — with a 'Ternopilian Card';

  2. 17 UAH — with a transport card;

  3. 20 UAH — with a bank card.

Why Ternopil wants to increase the fare

The city council explains the need to review fares due to a sharp increase in transportation costs. In particular, diesel fuel has increased by more than 46% — from 59.18 UAH to 86.53 UAH per liter.

There have also been increases in expenses for salaries, vehicle repairs, spare parts, and tires. A separate issue is the shortage of personnel due to mobilization — the lack of drivers and mechanics reaches 30–40%.

Public discussions of the new tariffs will take place on May 29 at the KP 'Ternopil Electric Transport'.

It is worth noting that in Ternopil, the popular bus route will change by May 24 due to road repairs.
