Explosions Rock Lviv, Kyiv, and Odesa in Apparent Coordinated Assault

A series of terrorist attacks has struck three major Ukrainian cities, causing significant alarm. In Lviv, a powerful explosion in the city center injured 14 people, all of whom required hospitalization. Emergency services, law enforcement, and special forces are currently on the scene. Lviv's Mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, has urged residents to remain calm and vigilant.

Details of the Attacks

In Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district, authorities have detained two individuals identified as the organizers of the attack. The operation was conducted jointly by Kyiv police and Ukraine's Security Service (SBU). The suspects had planned to use a Peugeot Partner van, disguised as a volunteer vehicle for evacuating the wounded to the front lines, to carry out their plot. One of the participants, a 41-year-old war veteran, reportedly made contact with a 'pseudo-volunteer' through social media.

In Odesa, an explosion occurred on February 16 in the city's Kyivskyi district, which the SBU has classified as a terrorist act. The blast happened at 07:49 near a residential building on Akademika Korolova Street. The driver of the vehicle was injured in the incident and was hospitalized. A criminal investigation into the event has been initiated.

Residents and visitors in all three cities are being advised not to panic, to stay calm, and to rely only on official sources for information. These attacks occur against a backdrop of heightened security tensions across Ukraine, driven by the ongoing military conflict. Ukrainian authorities are working to implement all necessary measures to ensure public safety and prevent future incidents. The arrests in Kyiv demonstrate the active efforts of law enforcement to combat terrorism, yet the security challenges remain substantial.
