Russia is conducting an active PR campaign on social media to promote the idea of 'revival' of Mariupol, which was heavily affected during the siege. Despite the obvious devastation and mass loss of life, Russian propaganda is focusing efforts on creating a positive impression of the city and forgetting about the tragedy of the local residents.

Youth in the occupied territories are being trained for free to promote Russian messages, and the content of all influencers must be positive and uniform to legitimize the occupation. This is one element of a broader strategy to erase Ukrainian identity and convince young people of the legitimacy of Russian influence.

Adding to this is the live broadcast of Putin's greeting on an LED panel in the city center, making it clear how Russia is using various methods to assert its control over Mariupol and influence the consciousness of the local population.
