Moldova has officially extended the validity of the temporary protection mechanism for citizens of Ukraine who were forced to leave due to the full-scale war. The new term of the status is set until March 4, 2027. This decision guarantees Ukrainians stable living conditions and predictability for the next two years. NewsMaker.md reports about it.
The decision was made taking into account the approach of the European Union, which had previously also extended the temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees until March 2027. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova noted that the country is synchronizing its policy with European standards, despite not being an EU member.

In the Council of the European Union, they emphasize that the conditions that served as the basis for introducing temporary protection in 2022 remain relevant. The security and humanitarian situation in Ukraine is still unstable, and most citizens do not have the opportunity to return home safely.
Temporary protection for Ukrainians in Moldova: what guarantees remain
Moldovan authorities have confirmed that Ukrainians will continue to have access to key state and humanitarian support programs, including:

legal residence without the need for annual status re-registration;

access to medical and social services;

the possibility to work without additional permits;

participation in educational and integration programs;

receiving assistance from international organizations.
The Moldovan government will continue to cooperate with local authorities, EU structures, the UN, and humanitarian partners to ensure effective support for Ukrainian refugees.
