Comprehensive Review of Northern Hemisphere Ski Resorts
A detailed study evaluated over 100 ski resorts across the Northern Hemisphere over seven winter seasons, spanning from 2017–2018 to 2025–2026, excluding periods impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The research culminated in the creation of the Reliable Ski Score, a ranking system that measures how dependable ski conditions are. The core analysis focused on the timeframe from January 5 to March 20 each season. Resorts were rated on a 100-point scale based on various reliability criteria.
Key Criteria Behind the Ranking
The ranking considered the following factors:
- 35% – Infrastructure quality, including the operational status of lifts and ski runs;
- 25% – Snow coverage adequacy, measured by the number of days with at least 30 cm of snow at the base station;
- 20% – Consistency of resort performance from one season to the next;
- 12% – Resilience to adverse weather conditions;
- 8% – Average snow depth on the mountain slopes.
