Kyiv topped the ranking of Ukrainian cities by the number of IT companies listed in the specialized catalog. The top five also includes Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Dnipro. Together, these cities accounted for 449 companies. This is evidenced by data from LiveBusiness.

1. Kyiv leads the ranking with 188 IT companies

The capital took first place with a significant lead over other cities. The catalog features 188 Kyiv-based IT companies. Kyiv's advantage lies in its large market of customers, concentration of specialists, investors, and headquarters of businesses. This creates favorable conditions for both large developers and young tech teams.

2. Mykolaiv took second place with 77 IT companies

Mykolaiv's catalog counts 77 companies. The city outpaced traditionally strong tech centers, including Kharkiv, Odesa, and Dnipro. The local IT sector encompasses software development, digital services, and business support. The city's advantage remains lower competition for talent compared to the capital.

3. Kharkiv maintains its place among the leaders with 68 IT companies

Kharkiv, with 68 companies, ranks third. The city has a strong engineering and educational base formed around technical universities. This helps companies find developers, testers, and engineers. Even amid the war, Kharkiv teams continue to work remotely and serve foreign clients.

4. Odesa entered the top-4 with 62 IT companies

Odesa ranked fourth, with 62 IT companies listed in the catalog. Among the city's advantages are a developed entrepreneurial culture, access to graduates from technical universities, and connections to logistics and maritime businesses. This supports demand for automation, corporate systems, online services, and data protection.

5. Dnipro rounded out the top five with 54 IT companies

Dnipro has 54 companies listed. The city relies on a strong industrial, engineering, and aerospace education base, so the local market features technically complex projects. Teams work with software, telecommunications, production automation, and defense technologies.

In sixth place in the ranking is Lviv with 47 companies. This is followed by Zaporizhzhia with 27, Vinnytsia with 21, and Poltava with 20 companies. At the same time, the ranking reflects the catalog's contents from LiveBusiness, not the total number of registered IT enterprises in each city.
