Cordon Cano was a two-time European champion (2001, 2004) and a two-time World Cup runner-up (2003, 2004) with the Spanish national beach soccer team. He was also the father of 18-year-old Getafe left-back Davinci. The fatal rail disaster occurred on Sunday when a train from Malaga derailed and collided with an oncoming service. The accident claimed at least 42 lives, with carriages tumbling from a four-meter-high slope.
A Fan's Passing and a National Hero
In a separate incident, a Norwich City supporter passed away after falling ill during his team's FA Cup third-round match against Walsall on January 11th, which Norwich won 5-1. The club issued a heartfelt statement expressing its condolences:

The football world also said goodbye to Dimitar Penev, the former CSKA Sofia player and manager of the Bulgarian national team, who died at the age of 80. Penev, named Bulgaria's Coach of the 20th Century, led his country to a historic fourth-place finish at the 1994 World Cup in the United States and later secured their first-ever qualification for a European Championship (Euro 96). As a player, he won three Bulgarian league titles and five domestic cups with CSKA Sofia and was an honorary citizen of the capital.
