Trump Authorizes Aggressive ICE and Border Patrol Response to Protect Federal Property

Трамп дає команду на активні дії ICE та прикордонників для забезпечення безпеки федеральної власності.

President Trump's Statement on Protests

In a social media statement, U.S. President Donald Trump authorized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol to use maximum force to protect federal property during protests. He stressed that safeguarding federal buildings, courthouses, parks, and other government assets is an absolute priority. This directive comes amid ongoing national unrest and debates over the appropriate use of federal power. Trump clarified that federal authorities would not intervene in city affairs unless local officials formally requested assistance, placing primary responsibility for security on state and local governments.

He stated that federal forces would only be deployed as a backup resource upon request from local authorities. Citing an incident in Eugene, Oregon, where protesters damaged a federal building, Trump emphasized in his remarks:

'No one will spit in the faces of our officers, no one will kick the headlights of our cars, no one will throw rocks or bricks at our vehicles or at our patriot warriors.' – Donald Trump

He specified that protesters acting aggressively would face serious consequences. Furthermore, Trump addressed local authorities, governors, and mayors, urging them to cooperate more actively with federal forces. 'So to all local authorities, governors, and mayors who are complaining: let us know when you're ready, and we will be there – but before that, you have to say the word 'Please,'' the president noted. He also assured that federal forces, such as ICE, the Border Patrol, or the military, would act decisively to protect federal property.

The Immigration Situation

Separately, a U.S. federal judge has ordered ICE to release five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, from a detention center in Texas. This ruling highlights the complex and often contentious nature of immigration and family detention policies in the United States.

President Trump's statement reflects heightened tensions between federal and local authorities during the continuing protests across the country. The aggressive measures he outlined could lead to increased on-the-ground conflicts, as federal forces would only be deployed at the request of local leaders. Meanwhile, the case involving the release of Liam Conejo Ramos and his father demonstrates that immigration remains a focal point of public attention, sparking legal disputes and widespread debate.
