Trump and Putin agreed on a peace deal
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, reported that during negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska, they agreed that the best way to end the war is to conclude a peace agreement, rather than just agreeing on a ceasefire.
As reported by 'Hvylya', Trump wrote about this on Truth Social on Saturday, August 16. He also emphasized that ceasefire agreements are often not fulfilled and once again called the meeting with Putin 'very good.'
Trump also confirmed that he will meet with Zelensky on August 18 in Washington and a possible meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia. 'If everything goes well, we plan to meet with President Putin. This could save millions of lives,' the Ukrainian leader added.
In addition to this, the Kremlin assessed Trump's meeting with Putin in Alaska. We also wrote about what Putin and Trump actually agreed upon.
During the negotiations in Alaska, Trump and Putin expressed their readiness to conclude a peace agreement, not just to agree on a ceasefire. This opens up the possibility for further negotiations and meetings, including between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia, which could be significant for stabilizing the situation in the region.
