After the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska, discussions began among Western allies regarding possible security guarantees for Ukraine, similar to those provided by Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty. This was reported by CNN, citing its own sources.

'This idea was proposed by the American side during the negotiations as one of the security guarantees for Ukraine, supposedly agreed upon in Alaska with Putin,' an unnamed CNN interlocutor noted.

European officials revealed that the idea of such guarantees was expressed during Trump’s conversations with representatives of European governments after his negotiations with Putin. The proposal is considered part of a possible peace agreement, in which Ukraine could receive 'non-NATO article 5 security guarantees'. Currently, specific details regarding the functioning of these guarantees are not disclosed.

It should be noted that after Trump's meeting with Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the results of his phone conversation with the American leader. Security guarantees for Ukraine were one of the key topics of this conversation.
