Trump's optimism regarding negotiations with Zelensky
President of the United States Donald Trump expressed optimism regarding negotiations with Volodymyr Zelensky, which are scheduled for this Sunday in Mar-a-Lago. Trump noted that Ukraine and Russia are interested in resolving the conflict, but their approaches to this issue differ significantly. According to him, resolving this conflict is the most difficult of all he has encountered.
Plan to end the war and its consequences
Zelensky, for his part, is ready to put the plan to end the war to a referendum if Russia agrees to a ceasefire for 60 days. The peace plan proposed by Trump involves territorial concessions from Ukraine. However, Zelensky noted that Ukraine has not received any response from the Russian side regarding the peace plan which contains 20 points.
Trump emphasized that 'every time one side is ready, the other is not.'
This indicates the complexity of the situation. Point 13 of the peace agreement provides for the implementation of educational programs to eliminate racism and prejudices. This underscores both sides' intent to find possible ways to achieve peace despite the existing differences.
These negotiations could be crucial for the further development of the conflict in Ukraine, as both sides express a willingness to dialogue, but there remain significant differences in their positions. The importance of the referendum proposed by Zelensky also indicates a desire to involve the public in the decision-making process, which could affect the internal political situation in Ukraine. Further steps by Russia will be decisive in determining the possibility of achieving peace in the region.
