U.S. and Ukrainian Presidents Meet at G7 Gathering

During the G7 summit in France on June 16, U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will take part in a working session together. This was disclosed by a senior U.S. official speaking on condition of anonymity to Le Figaro. However, no formal bilateral meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy has been scheduled on the American leader's official agenda.

At the summit, Zelenskyy intends to join discussions regarding the situation in Ukraine. On June 17, Trump is set to dine with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palace of Versailles. Notably, the last time Trump and Zelenskyy met was in January 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. As the senior U.S. official noted, the two presidents 'could very well run into each other in the corridors' during the summit.

What This Meeting Means for Ukraine and the U.S.

This engagement at the G7 underscores ongoing international focus on Ukraine’s situation and the significance of U.S.-Ukraine cooperation. Although a formal bilateral meeting is not on the books, the potential for informal talks could create fresh opportunities to address strategic issues related to the security and economies of both nations.

This backdrop adds another layer of complexity to the potential interactions between Trump and Zelenskyy, highlighting the importance of international alliances and support for Ukraine during this critical time.
