How the Conflict with Iran Could End

Following a briefing at U.S. Central Command, President Donald Trump stated he envisions only two possible outcomes for the war with Iran: a military resolution or a diplomatic one. He made clear that the use of force is not his preferred approach.

“I would prefer not to. From a human standpoint, I would prefer not to, but it is an option,” he emphasized.

Internal Turmoil in Iran

Trump also commented on the unstable conditions inside Iran.

“There are enormous divisions in Iran, and they have major problems coming to an understanding with each other,” the president noted.
He acknowledged some progress in talks but expressed doubt about a swift resolution: “They have made certain advances, but I am not sure they will ever achieve it.”

The administration of the United States has formally notified Congress that it no longer considers itself in an active armed conflict with Iran. Reports indicate that Tehran has handed over the text of a new negotiation framework to Pakistan for discussions with Washington. Iran states its primary goal is to end the war and secure a lasting peace.

Trump’s remarks suggest the U.S. administration is seeking a peaceful conclusion to the standoff, while recognizing the hurdles in negotiations. The internal discord within Iran could complicate efforts to finalize a deal, yet Washington’s view that the conflict is no longer active may open fresh avenues for diplomacy. Talks involving intermediaries like Pakistan could prove pivotal in stabilizing the region.
