Trump: Putin may want to seize all of Ukraine
U.S. President Donald Trump, in an interview with Newsmax, suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin may be aiming to capture all of Ukraine. Trump noted that while such a scenario is possible, he finds its execution very difficult.
'Putin may want to try to seize the whole country. I think it will be very hard for him to do it,' the U.S. president said, according to Newsmax.
Trump believes Putin can effectively counter sanctions
President Trump also pointed out that the Russian leader is very good at resisting international sanctions imposed against Russia. Trump emphasized Putin's experience in dealing with economic pressure and believes he manages sanctions well.
'We will impose sanctions, and he responds pretty well to them. He knows how to avoid them,' Trump commented.
The U.S. president also described Putin as a 'tough nut' and expressed surprise at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, emphasizing that their negotiations could help end the conflict.
