U.S. Navy to Enforce Strait of Hormuz Blockade
Following the collapse of nuclear negotiations with Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the U.S. Navy to immediately impose a maritime blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The decision, announced by Trump on his Truth Social platform on April 12, comes as a direct response to Iran's refusal to abandon its nuclear ambitions after nearly 20 hours of intensive talks. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical oil transit chokepoints.
The negotiations took place in Islamabad, with both sides represented by high-level delegations. The U.S. team included:

New Directives for the U.S. Navy
Under the new orders, the U.S. Navy is instructed to immediately begin intercepting all vessels attempting to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz. This includes stopping any ships in international waters that have paid a transit 'toll' to Iran. President Trump also stated that the U.S. would begin destroying mines Iran has allegedly placed in the waterway, accusing the country of 'international extortion'.
