U.S. President Donald Trump made important statements about future negotiations with Russian leader Putin and the situation in Ukraine. During a conversation with journalists on board a plane, he explained his position.
Regarding the new Russian aggression against Ukraine, Trump believes that it is an attempt by Putin to improve his standing in the negotiations: 'He is trying to create a certain situation. That is, he thinks this will help him reach a better agreement. In reality, it harms him.'
Concerns regarding territorial exchanges, security guarantees for Ukraine, and economic consequences - all these will be on the agenda of the upcoming negotiations. Trump supported Ukraine's right to independently resolve issues, expressed doubts about the country’s NATO membership, and threatened severe economic measures in case of unsuccessful conflict resolution.
