Donald Trump as an 'impartial broker'

Donald Trump, former president of the United States, positions himself as an 'impartial broker' in the war issues concerning Ukraine, seeking to find a compromise between the parties. This has become a central theme of a series of diplomatic meetings that took place at his Mar-a-Lago residence at the end of December. The British publication The Times summarized the outcomes of these negotiations, highlighting Trump's readiness to move away from one-sided rhetoric.

Trump's demands and the results of the negotiations

During the meetings, Trump expressed a requirement for the European Union to take on 100% of the costs for Ukraine's recovery in exchange for American security guarantees. This position reflects Trump's desire for active involvement of European partners in the recovery process of Ukraine, which could change the dynamics of international support for the country.

Negotiations between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky resulted in the announcement of a significant diplomatic breakthrough. Thanks to these meetings, the issue of support from the U.S. was agreed upon at 100%, while the joint guarantees of the U.S. and Europe reached 90%. These results indicate the possibility of further development of cooperation between the U.S. and the EU in the context of military and economic challenges facing Ukraine.

These events underscore the growing role of the United States in international efforts to stabilize Ukraine and revive its economy. The emphasis on the European Union's involvement in funding recovery may indicate a new approach to collective security in the region. Involvement of European partners in financial obligations could lead to strengthening transatlantic ties and coordination of actions in response to Russia's aggression.
