US Withdrawal from International Organizations
President Donald Trump has signed an order for the US to withdraw from 66 international organizations, including 31 UN bodies and 35 outside the UN. This decision is justified by the lack of alignment with US interests, raising concerns about the country's future role on the international stage. According to the document, the US must cease its participation in these organizations, which could significantly alter their operations and influence.
List of Organizations
Among the organizations from which the US is withdrawing are important bodies such as:
- UN Alliance of Civilizations
- UN Democracy Fund
- UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
- UN Population Fund
- Scientific and Technical Center in Ukraine
This move may negatively impact cooperation on global issues, including environmental protection, support for democracy, and science.
On December 18, 2022, Trump also signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the 2026 fiscal year, which includes record spending levels of $901 billion and allocates $800 million to support Ukraine. However, withdrawal from international organizations may jeopardize stability and security in many regions of the world, as the US has traditionally played a significant role in international affairs.
This step by Trump could have long-lasting consequences for global governance and international cooperation. The US withdrawal from many important structures will not only decrease their influence on decision-making in the world but may also lead to the weakening of international mechanisms that ensure peace and stability. In the context of growing global challenges such as climate change and international security, this decision may raise concerns among US allies and partners in international organizations.
