Former coach of 'Dynamo' and 'Shakhtar' Mircea Lucescu is in critical condition in a Bucharest hospital after a heart attack. Doctors continue intensive therapy and do not rule out the use of an artificial circulation machine. This was reported by Terrikon.

According to official information from the University Clinic of Bucharest, the condition of the 80-year-old coach is assessed as critical but stable within the chosen treatment. During the day, a council meeting was held involving leading cardiologists, resuscitators, and cardiac surgeons.

Condition of Mircea Lucescu: what doctors say

Doctors confirmed that they continue the chosen treatment strategy. Main decisions:

  • the therapy remains unchanged, its effectiveness is evaluated dynamically

  • a re-evaluation of the patient's condition is planned

  • the possibility of using ECMO is being considered.

ECMO — is a method of artificial support for the heart and lungs, used in critical cases when standard treatment does not yield results.

Lucescu's heart attack: how the coach's condition worsened

According to Romanian authorities, the coach's condition worsened after experiencing a myocardial infarction. The Romanian Minister of Health reported that the last 24-48 hours have been particularly difficult.

Chronology of events:

  • March 29 — hospitalization after deterioration of health

  • April 3 — discharge was planned

  • later — acute myocardial infarction

  • after that — transfer to intensive care.

Currently, Lucescu is in the intensive care unit under constant medical supervision.

Romanian doctors emphasize that further decisions will depend on the dynamics of the patient's condition in the coming days.
